YOGA AND RELAXATION

YOGA with Zoya Lu

All lessons are appropriate for all levels. No yoga experience is needed. Please wear comfortable clothing. Different types of yoga lessons will be offered:

  • Classical Hatha Yoga lesson teaches how to perform yogic postures (asanas) in a traditional way. Deep relaxation and breathing exercises (pranayama) at the end of the lesson induce energy cleansing and balancing of the mind.

  • Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a powerful raja yoga technique of conscious relaxation. Practiced lying down, it does not involve movement, just listening and relaxing, therefore it is suitable for any physical condition.

  • Vinyasa yoga is a vibrant blend of classical yoga taught in a creative vein. The smooth flow of yoga postures linked to the breath gradually builds up into a meditation in motion.

  • Restorative Yoga is a slower, gently paced class with less movements but more inner work which takes your practice to an increased level of awareness and stillness.

  • Partner Yoga brings a whole new dimension to yoga practice as it helps you to open your body more deeply than you could alone and teaches you subtle lessons of relationship. Any two people - friends or lovers, can practice it. If you would like to come on your own, we will pair you up with someone on the day.

  • Restorative Partner yogais more gentle and slow-paced, and includes poses, massage, and breathing techniques that will leave you feeling open, cared for, relaxed and aware of yourself in relationship to another.

ON SITE MASSAGE with Joyce Muscat
Come and learn simple ways of practicing massage using especially finger and palm pressure. Stretching exercises are also applied to increase flexibility in a similar way to yoga. On site massage (OSM) incorporates traditional styles of massage including Swedish and shiatsu techniques. Treatments are carried out over the patient’s clothes. The back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and scalp are all treated.

REIKI with Jane Chircop
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
